Aaron Doe (XZDDev) creates and maintains open source apps, websites, and related projects. This policy explains the privacy approach used across XZDDev projects, including the optional ReleaseQuest Account system, unless a specific project provides its own separate privacy notice.
ReleaseQuest can be used without creating an account. Core game discovery, lists, notes, journals, preferences, and private insights are stored and processed on your device unless you choose to use an account feature that clearly sends supported data to ReleaseQuest.
If you create a ReleaseQuest Account, we process the information needed to provide it, including:
We use this information only where necessary to:
Your display name, username, profile picture, biography, and level may be visible to signed-in users when friend discovery is enabled and to accepted friends. Synced library and activity information is shown according to the visibility controls you select: Private, Friends, or Public. Blocking removes the friendship and pending requests and prevents the affected accounts from finding or viewing one another.
Reports are not shown publicly. They are available only for service safety, moderation, investigation, and compliance purposes.
ReleaseQuest uses service providers that process information on our behalf or provide authentication:
Selecting a trailer opens a YouTube search in your browser. External sites and sign-in providers operate under their own privacy policies. Their processing locations may differ from your country of residence.
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we process account data to provide the service you request, with your consent where applicable, and for legitimate interests such as service security, abuse prevention, support, and enforcing our terms. You may stop optional processing by signing out, changing visibility settings, disabling discovery, removing your picture, or deleting your account.
Account data is retained while your ReleaseQuest Account remains active or as reasonably necessary to provide the service. You can delete your account from Profile → Edit → Account Controls → Delete ReleaseQuest Account. This removes the Firebase authentication record, profile and profile picture, username reservation, friendships, requests, blocks, reports associated with the account, and synced library data. Local app data remains on your device unless you separately delete it or uninstall the app.
If you cannot access the app, use our ReleaseQuest Account deletion page to request deletion. Support or deletion correspondence may be retained only as long as reasonably necessary to complete the request, maintain security, or meet legal obligations.
We use access controls, authenticated server operations, encrypted network connections, Firebase security rules, and application-integrity checks designed to protect account data. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Do not place sensitive personal information in your display name, username, biography, or profile picture.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal information, and to receive a portable copy where applicable. Profile information and visibility can be changed in the app. To make another privacy request, contact us using the address below. We may need to verify that you control the relevant account before fulfilling a request.
Some XZDDev projects are published as open source. Source code may be hosted on services such as GitHub or GitLab. Those platforms may process data according to their own privacy policies when you visit them, create an account, open an issue, submit a pull request, or otherwise interact with their services.
If you contact us by email, you choose what information to include. We use support messages only to read, respond to, investigate, and resolve the request. We do not use support emails for marketing, analytics, profiling, or resale.
XZDDev pages and apps may link to third-party services such as app stores, source code hosts, documentation, or project websites. These third parties are not operated by XZDDev and may have their own privacy practices. Please review their policies before using those services.
ReleaseQuest is a general-audience service and ReleaseQuest Accounts are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect account information from a child who cannot lawfully consent to its processing. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has created an account without appropriate permission, contact us so that we can investigate and delete the account.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When changes are made, the updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised update date.
